DAMAGE ASSESSMENT AND REPAIR OF AIRCRAFT LASTA AFTER EMERGENCY LANDING

Abstract: This paper gives analysis of damage and activities that are done in order to repair training aircraft Lasta prototype 1 after emergency landing that occurred during a test flight. The accident occurred as a result of landing of the aircraft on a concrete runway without extended landing gear. The gear-up landing damaged parts of the structures were checked by using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and repaired or replaced. Special attention was put on testing the wing-fuselage joint. After repair of the aircraft its flight envelope was reduced and the aircraft was put back into regular use. Keywords: aircraft Lasta, emergency landing, NDT methods, structure repairs. |
