Abstract: Conventional methods of destroying ordnances are becoming less and less acceptable due to their adverse effects on the environment, while disassembly methods are high-risk operations. This paper presents the research of the possibilities of applying abrasive waterjet cutting technology with the aim of disassembling and destroying projectiles. It also shows experimental trials of cutting the 100 mm and 105 mm calibre projectile shells. Research has shown that projectile shell cutting can be carried out by abrasive waterjet and that the nozzle position has no significant impact on the possibility of cutting. Disassembly and destruction of projectiles using abrasive waterjet cutting technology should enable simultaneous increase in safety, environmental protection and productivity, and can be quickly and easily automated and integrated into production facilities of ammunition repair and disassembly companies. Keywords: disassembly, projectile cutting, abrasive waterjet, safety.
