Abstract: This paper presents an improvement of existing method for detonation velocity measurement developed in the Military Technical Institute. Detonation velocities of a cast and a pressed explosive were measured with existing and improved method. The old method for detonation velocity measurement with electric probes and the new method with optic probes and photo-detector for detonation velocity measurement were tested on the two explosive compositions: pressed explosive FH-5 and cast explosive HMX/HTPB 80/20. Results of measurements were compared. Average detonation velocity values, measurement absolute deviation values and standard deviation values for tested cast and pressed explosives are presented and analyzed. Keywords: detonation velocity, PBX explosive, electric probes, optic probes, photo-detector. |
