Abstract: Pedestrian radar with one-dimensional electronic beam steering is described. Electronic beam steering is based on (digitally generated) delayed base-band or IF (intermediate frequency) band signals. Particular up and down converters are associated to each radiating sub-array. Digitally delayed signals are up and down converted by phase shifted local oscillator signal. Operation with wideband instantaneous bandwidth (high radar resolution) without squint losses is possible. Inverse architectures are applied in Tx (transmit) and Rx (receive) chains. RF power delivered by medium power amplifier enables application of high isolation RF switches instead of ferrite components. Applied digital signal processing is suitable for adaptive beam forming in Tx and Rx path. Key words: Beam scan, linear array, FPGA (field programmable gate array)
