Degradation of Polyethylene Terephtalate in Natural Conditions

Resistance of biaxial oriented polyethylene terephtalatе foil to outdoor natural weathering factors was investigated in two different climatic areas. Physical, mechanical and optical properties of polyethylene terephtalatе before, during and after two years of exposure were determined. Factors affecting natural weathering of this material were described. It was concluded that this material could be used for up to 18 months in outdoor static conditions.
