SILICONE ELASTOMERS – TYPES, PROPERTIES AND APPLICATION
Ružica Popović Milan Radulović Mr Ružica Popović Milenko Plavšić Hot temperature vulcanizable silicone rubbers are characterizied with some extraordinary characteristic properties such as: resistance to extremely high and low temperatures, low compression set, superior electroinsulation characteristics, resistance to oil etc. This work reviews Elastosil R grades which are used for manufacturing seals, corks, hoses and other articles, which are exposing to oils and high temperature influences. Two experimental laboratory mixes based on MQ elastomers are prepeared and tested in this work. Post-cure procedure contribute the elimination of easily evaporable unpleasunt smell substances, while mechanical properties have insignificant change. The increase of concentration of cure agent (DCP) in silicone compound from 0,8 to 1 pphr has no significant influence on changes of physical-mechanical vulcanizate properties.
