CHEMICALS IN TREATING INTERNAL CONTAMINATION BY RADIOISOTOPES IN HUMANS – ACHIEVEMENTS AND RESEARCH TENDENCIES

The paper gives a brief account of chemicals applied in treating humans internally contaminated by radioisotopes from the fision products group (Cs-137, Sr-90 and I-131), uranium and transuranium elements. The me-canism of their reaction has been given as well as the basic methods of treatment. The stress has been put on highly efficient low-toxicity chemicals. Moreover, state-of-the-art research works in the field have been pointed out and the obtained results have been analyzed.
