SIMILARITY M-TEST

A statistical test for verifying the hypothesis that two samples of equal size (n1=n2=n) belong to the same population has been proposed in the paper. In order to verify the hypothesis the author uses the cinfidence limits p1 and p2 for the expected probability p=0,5, which depend solely on the sample size n and the adopted lower and higher risk levels α1 and α2 respectively. Since the expected probability p=0,5 is located in the middle of the range of possible values for the probability p Є [0,1], the test is referred to as the similarity M (medial) – test. The test application in practice is illustrated as well.
